We are pleased to start featuring a pet of the month again after a bit of a hiatus! Gunner is July’s pet of the month. Gunner is a 7 year old chocolate Lab and a gentle sweetheart! Here’s what Gunner’s owner has to say about him:

“I met Gunner at the Coweta County Animal Shelter. I was there on a fluke. My best friend was doing some behavioral testing demonstrations to the staff and I tagged along for fun. While the group was working on their testing I walked through the shelter. There were many wonderful dogs there that day, but when I saw the quiet, older Chocolate Lab I knew I had to take a closer look. I took him out of the kennel and his tail didn’t stop wagging. I asked him if he knew how to sit, and not only did he do it immediately, he held out his paw for a shake. That was it – into the truck he went. I thought I might work with a Lab rescue group to place him while I fostered him, but within 24 hours I was smitten. He is the epitome of Lab awesomeness. He was turned in by a family who said he just showed up in their yard. It’s almost impossible to believe that this dog did not have a loving family for most of his life. I’m so glad I went along for the ride that day, and found such an amazing buddy. Gunner’s favorite activity is going to the horse barn with me and swimming in the pond there.”

We thank Gunner’s owner, Morgan for sharing this story and photo!
